Jakarta, ( ITN – IndonesiaTouristNews ) : The Indonesian Geological Agency has lowered the status of Gunung Agung in Bali from “watch out” level to “alert”. Thus all refugees can return to their respective residence and the tourist activity is fully secure. The announcement was made on February 10, 2018, as explained by Tourism Minister Arief Yahya through a press release.
It was stated that three major agents in Bali, among others Tjendana Mandala Sakti (TMS), have received definitive booking for traveling to Bali of 6,000 pax from China, while another 15,000 pax is on procces. The definitive reservation for the Lunar days trip from an agent named Jetwing was recorded at 4000 pax. Total booking has reached 15,000 Chinese tourists who will celebrate the Lunar New Year in Bali.
It was reported earlier that Energy Minister Ignatius Jonan said that from observing volcanic activity of Gunung Agung for almost a month, the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation recommends to lower the status of “watch out” to be alert. Minister Jonan added that the radius of danger zone of Mount Agung has also been lowered to four kilometers from the highest peak of the mountain in Bali.
“So the alert status remains in a radius of four kilometers, the earlier six kilometer radius now is down to four kilometers,” he added.***
